When buyers first ask about private label SPC flooring, the conversation often starts with the carton: Can we print our logo? Can we add a barcode? In practice, the carton is one of the last things that should be finalized.
The product comes first. Thickness, wear layer, backing, color range, surface, plank size and locking profile all affect the price, packing and minimum order quantity. If these details keep changing, the sample, artwork and quotation will keep changing with them.
This guide is written for distributors, importers and flooring brands preparing an OEM SPC flooring range. It focuses on the decisions that matter before production, including sample approval, private label packaging, quality checks and repeat-order records.
Private Label Starts With a Clear Product Brief
A factory can quote faster when the buyer explains what the product is expected to do and where it will be sold. “5mm SPC” is not a complete specification. It may describe a 5mm core, a finished product including backing, or simply a target price category.
Before asking for a final quotation, prepare a short product brief.
| Information | What to Confirm |
|---|---|
| Market | Country, sales channel and target customer |
| Application | Residential, rental, retail, hotel, office or project use |
| Structure | Core thickness, wear layer, plank size and attached backing |
| Appearance | Color direction, gloss, embossing and edge finish |
| Order plan | Estimated quantity, number of colors and destination port |
| Branding | Neutral carton, private label carton, barcode and SKU requirements |
This brief does not need to be complicated. One page is enough. Its purpose is to keep the supplier and buyer discussing the same product.
For a First Collection, Keep the Structure Simple
A common mistake is launching too many combinations at once: several thicknesses, two wear layers, different backing options and a large color range. It looks flexible on paper, but it creates small quantities for each SKU and makes sample control, packing and future restocking harder.
A more practical first range may use one product structure across several coordinated colors. For example, a distributor could begin with one 5mm configuration and add another specification only after learning which price points and applications are selling.
Buyers considering this structure can review our 5mm SPC flooring for wholesale and project supply.
The structure should be written clearly. If IXPE is attached, state whether the quoted thickness refers to the SPC core or the total finished product. This small detail affects price, carton quantity, weight and container loading.
Choose Colors as a Range, Not One Plank at a Time
Color selection often takes longer than expected. A plank that looks balanced on a phone screen may appear too grey, too yellow or too glossy when viewed in daylight. Digital images are useful for narrowing the options, but they should not replace physical sample approval.
For most distributor collections, a focused color group is easier to stock and present. Light oak, natural oak, a warmer brown, one grey direction and a darker accent color can cover more selling situations than ten similar beige planks.

Surface and color should also be reviewed together. A standard embossed surface and an EIR surface can make the same décor look different. Buyers looking for synchronized grain can compare our EIR SPC flooring options.

Approve a Physical Sample Before Packaging Artwork
The approved plank becomes the practical reference for color, gloss, texture, edge and overall appearance. Keep one sample with the buyer and one with the supplier where possible. Record the product code and specification on the sample sleeve rather than relying on chat history.
Before approval, check the sample under more than one light source. Daylight, showroom lighting and warm residential lighting can change how the same wood tone appears.
Also assemble several planks. A private label flooring product is sold as a floor, not as one attractive board. The buyer needs to see color variation, joint alignment and the overall look across a larger area.
Private Label Packaging Is Product Information
Once the flooring structure and sample are settled, carton artwork can move forward. The packaging should do more than display a logo. It needs to help the warehouse, dealer, installer and customer identify the product correctly.
| Packaging Item | Details to Check |
|---|---|
| Carton | Brand, product name, size, quantity and flooring structure |
| Color label | SKU, décor code, batch reference and color name |
| Barcode | Correct format and correct link to the buyer's SKU system |
| Instructions | Language, storage notes and installation information |
| Pallet mark | Order reference, SKU, carton count and destination information |
Artwork should be approved as a final file, not through several cropped screenshots. Names, dimensions and barcodes need a last check before printing. A packaging error can affect the whole shipment even when the flooring itself is correct.

MOQ Depends on How the Order Is Divided
Private label SPC flooring does not have one universal MOQ. The total square meters are only part of the calculation. The quantity per color, structure, backing and carton design matters just as much.
For example, one container using a single structure and four practical colors may be easier to arrange than the same area divided among ten colors, two thicknesses and different backing options.
Existing décors and neutral packaging usually involve fewer development steps. Custom colors, special surfaces and printed cartons may require separate minimum quantities. The supplier should review the proposed SKU breakdown before confirming what is workable.
Our SPC flooring MOQ guide explains this in more detail.
Compare Quotations Using the Same Build
A low price is difficult to evaluate when the product description is vague. Ask each supplier to quote the same structure and packing basis.
At minimum, compare core thickness, wear layer, backing, plank size, surface, edge, pieces per carton, square meters per carton, gross weight and pallet arrangement. Confirm whether private label carton costs are included.
This is where many price comparisons go wrong. Two products called “5mm SPC” may not be the same product at all.
Quality Control Must Follow the Approved Sample
Private label products carry the buyer's name, so a visual check at the end of production is not enough. The inspection needs a written reference.
Checks may include plank dimensions, surface condition, color against the approved sample, click-lock fitting, edge finish, backing alignment, carton quantity, SKU labels and pallet protection. The exact inspection plan should match the product and order.
Open cartons from different parts of the production batch. Assemble several planks rather than inspecting every piece separately. This makes joint or color issues easier to notice before loading.

Repeat Orders Need Records, Not Memory
The first shipment is only the beginning of a private label program. A distributor needs the same SKU to be understandable months later when stock is running low.
Keep the approved physical sample, written structure, artwork, color code, carton quantity and inspection notes together. When placing a repeat order, send the previous order reference and confirm whether any material, packaging or specification has changed.
Wood-look flooring may show normal production variation between batches. If old and new stock will be installed in the same area, discuss this before ordering rather than assuming both batches will be visually identical.
Questions to Ask an OEM SPC Flooring Manufacturer
Which parts of the product can actually be customized?
Can existing colors be used for a faster first collection?
How is the final sample recorded before production?
How is MOQ calculated for each color and build?
Can cartons, labels, barcodes and pallet marks be coordinated?
Which quality checks are completed before packing?
What information is kept for repeat orders?
Which documents are available for the exact quoted product?
A useful supplier answer should be specific to the proposed product. General factory claims do not replace an approved sample, written specification and clear packing list.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can SPC flooring be sold under my own brand?
Yes. Depending on the order, SPC flooring can be supplied with the buyer's brand, cartons, SKU labels and other approved packaging. The product specification should be settled before the artwork is printed.
Is private label the same as OEM SPC flooring?
The terms often overlap. Private label may focus mainly on branding and packaging, while OEM can include deeper changes to thickness, wear layer, color, surface, backing and plank format.
Can I start with existing colors?
Yes. Existing décors can be a practical way to shorten the first selection process. Physical samples should still be approved before production.
What is the MOQ for private label SPC flooring?
It depends on the quantity per color, product structure, backing and packaging plan. Send the complete SKU breakdown for review rather than asking only for one total square-meter figure.
Can private label SPC flooring include IXPE?
IXPE may be available for suitable product structures. Confirm the material, thickness and whether it is included in the stated total finished thickness.
What should I send for an OEM quotation?
Send the target market, application, thickness, wear layer, size, color direction, surface, backing, quantity, packaging requirements and destination port. Reference samples or product photos can help clarify the request.
