A hotel project may use wood-look SPC flooring in guest rooms and decorative SPC panels on selected walls. Choosing similar colours is only the first step. The flooring, wall panels and finishing trims have different jobs, and each needs its own approved specification.
For hotel developers, contractors and importers, the purchasing goal is straightforward: approve what will be installed, confirm how the surfaces meet, and make sure the bulk order matches the samples. This checklist covers the decisions to make before requesting a final quotation.

Start With a Room-by-Room Material Schedule
Do not order one general “hotel SPC package” without identifying where each material will be used. A guest-room floor, a corridor floor and a headboard feature wall may require different products and different approval documents.
| Location | Product decision | Buyer check |
|---|---|---|
| Guest-room floor | SPC flooring construction, finish and backing | Traffic, cleaning, subfloor and acoustic requirements |
| Corridor floor | Flooring specification for the corridor's use | Project performance requirements and maintenance plan |
| Headboard or feature wall | Dedicated decorative wall panel | Wall substrate, fixing method, edges and service access |
| Floor-to-wall junction | Skirting and finishing trim | Colour, profile, height and installation detail |
Record the area and quantity for each location separately. This makes quotations easier to compare and helps the installation team identify the correct material on site.
Specify the Floor and Wall Products Separately
SPC flooring is selected for foot traffic and its intended floor installation system. A dedicated wall panel is selected for vertical use and its specified fixing method. Similar appearance does not make the two products interchangeable.
For the flooring, confirm the plank size, total thickness, core construction, wear layer, surface texture, colour code, click profile and any attached backing. Ask for the installation instructions applicable to that exact product.
For the wall panel, confirm its size, thickness, face finish, substrate requirements, fixing method, joint treatment, corner detail and edge finishing. Ask the supplier to identify which components are included and which must be purchased separately.
If the project has requirements for fire performance, emissions, slip resistance or acoustics, list them by product and location. A report for the floor should not be assumed to cover the wall panel. Our guide to verifying SPC flooring test reports explains how to compare a report with the product being ordered.
Approve the Appearance With Physical Samples
A screen image cannot reliably confirm that a floor and a wall panel will look right together. Request samples of the proposed finished products and view them under the hotel's expected lighting. Place the flooring horizontally and the wall panel vertically: light strikes the two surfaces differently.
Compare the wood tone, printed grain, texture, gloss and visible joints. Include the skirting or transition sample in the review. The products do not need identical dimensions to create a coordinated room, but the final combination should be approved as a set.

Keep one signed or clearly identified reference set after approval. Record the product codes and sample dates so that the bulk goods can be checked against the same references. If exact décor matching is essential, confirm that it is available for the chosen floor and wall products before promising it in the hotel specification.
Resolve the Floor-to-Wall Details Before Ordering
The junction between the floor and wall is easy to overlook in a quotation. Ask the designer and installer to confirm where skirting is needed, which profile covers exposed wall-panel edges, and how internal and external corners will be finished.
Also check door frames, built-in furniture, access panels and transitions to adjoining finishes. The installation drawing should show how the selected products meet at these points. Confirm quantities for trims and accessories using actual room layouts rather than adding an untested percentage to the flooring area.
Review Project Documents for Each Product
Build a submission list before the purchase order is placed. For each selected flooring and wall-panel model, request its current technical sheet, installation guidance and any test documents required by the project. Compare the model name, construction and thickness in those documents with the approved sample and quotation.
Documentation needs vary by destination and building specification. The project designer or responsible approving party should confirm which reports are required. Avoid assuming that a general certificate, or a report for another construction, approves every floor and wall option in a collection.
Plan Quantities, Replacement Stock and Delivery
A hotel often orders several materials across many similar rooms. Prepare a schedule showing the net measured area, allowance agreed by the installer, product code, colour, carton quantity and delivery phase for each product. Calculate flooring and wall-panel quantities separately.
Consider replacement stock for future room repairs. A later production run may differ slightly in décor or finish, so record the approved product code and agree on a practical reserve quantity for the specific project. If installation will happen in phases, identify which cartons and accessories are needed for each phase.
Before production, use our SPC flooring purchase order checklist to confirm flooring specifications, packaging and inspection details. For the flooring selection itself, see our hotel guest-room SPC flooring guide.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can SPC flooring planks be used as hotel wall panels?
Do not assume flooring planks are suitable for wall installation. Specify a wall product with an approved fixing method and confirm its installation requirements with the supplier and project designer.
Must the flooring and wall panel use exactly the same wood grain?
No. Some projects use complementary tones. If an exact match is required, compare finished physical samples and confirm availability for both selected products before approving the design.
Can one fire test report cover both the floor and wall panel?
Do not assume so. Check the required test and the scope of each document against the actual product and installation location.
Should skirting and trims be included in the initial quotation?
Yes. Identify the required profiles and estimate their quantities from the drawings so that the quotation reflects the complete proposed finish.
What should a hotel buyer keep for a repeat order?
Keep the approved samples, product codes, technical sheets, décor references and original order records. Confirm current availability and compare new samples before a later production run.
